Innsbruck
NALA Individuell Hotel: The NALA was once an enchanting 50s hotel in Innsbruck. With great attention to detail, it has been transformed into a trendsetting city hotel. The NALA is bursting with unique flair: surprising color combinations, quirky details, and an underlying elegance create the perfect environment. Centrally located, yet in a very quiet and charming neighborhood, NALA is situated in the cosy Wilten district, walking distance to the baroque monastery church of the Wilten Basilica and the Zaha Hadid-designed Bergisel Ski Jump. This dramatic building stands proudly on the south side of Wilten and its restaurant offers fabulous views of the majestic Nordkette mountains and the city down below. Come on the right day and you can see local ski jumpers in training, and marvel at the skill and elegance as they fly through thin air!
Salzburg
Arthotel Blaue Gans: Arthotel Blaue Gans (Blue Goose) is a stylish mix of modern design, contemporary art, and Austrian tradition. It is located close to Mozart's birthplace and opposite the Festival Hall and it also houses Salzburg's oldest inn which opened in 1350. The Blaue Gans concierge explains that Salzburg is ideal to be explored by bike. The city bikes are just waiting to be taken out on an exciting city tour or idyllic ride into the countryside. The network of bike paths in Salzburg is over 110 miles long. Most of these paths are on the banks of the River Salzach, as well as through parks and along idyllic tree-lined lanes. Hellbrunner Allee, which is closed to motorized traffic, leads you out to Hellbrunn palace, with its famous trick fountains and adjacent zoo.
Vienna
Henriette Stadthotel Vienna: This 4-star award-winning green hotel is located in the heart of the vibrant 2nd district. Take your time to enjoy Henriette's organic breakfast – home-made with much love, and the kind of breakfast you always wish but usually never have time for. Afterwards, take a walk to the Prater park and rise high on the Giant Ferris Wheel or enjoy the lush greenery of one of the largest city parks in the world. Or you hop right on the underground to the Old Town: almost like visiting an open-air museum, but bustling with life!
Hotel Altstadt Vienna: Altstadt Vienna's recipe for success is creativity combined with the Viennese approach to life. Now as before, this historical building, in which guests and locals live door-by-door, is rich in character with a casual atmosphere. All 62 rooms and suites are individually designed, many by renowned designers such as Matteo Thun, or Lilli Hollein. Since the hotel is located in the revitalized Spittelberg artist district, the recommendation is to venture out and find great restaurants that range from laid-back, no-frills Viennese “Beisl” pubs, to modern international cuisine, raw super foods, and award-winning eateries.
Almanac Palais Vienna Hotel: Florian Rünzi, Head Concierge at the Almanac, which is steps away from the historic city center on the splendid Ring Boulevard, suggests the following: "Explore the baroque splendor of the Austrian National Library—a treasury of history and knowledge. Situated within the Imperial Palace in the heart of Vienna, this extraordinary library goes beyond the ordinary. It reshapes your view of libraries, offering a space to deeply engage in a truly unforgettable experience."
The Harmonie Vienna: The Harmonie Vienna owes its name to the former Harmonie Theatre, just a stone's throw from the hotel. Owner Sonja Wimmer chose an artistic concept for her city hotel. It was designed by Peruvian artist Luis Casanova Sorrola, who took inspiration from dance and performance art. Soloists from the Vienna State Opera Ballet created many of the Harmonie’s design elements by moving across a canvas with color pigment on their bodies. The hotel is located in Vienna's trendy Servitenviertel neighborhood, hence the recommendation is to explore its interesting culinary scene, the nearby Jewish Quarter, and the Sigmund Freud Museum.
Hotel San Souci Vienna: A day strolling through Vienna's history-infused streets, a delicious Austrian dinner in the in-house restaurant, a swim in Vienna's longest hotel pool underneath a glittering chandelier make for a quintessential Vienna experience! Outside its doors, Vienna's artsy 7th district and the charming pedestrian area Spittelberg await. The sprawling courtyard of Vienna's largest museum complex, the MuseumsQuarter, invites you to linger and contemplate the art all around you, notably the worldwide largest collection of works by Egon Schiele at the Leopold Museum.
Hollmann Beletage: Founder Robert Hollmann is not exactly fond of hotels and this is the exact reason why he created his own. It is a playground for individualists, travellers and business people and for guests who are looking for an extraordinary experience. Leave the alarm clock at home and order the legendary multi-course organic breakfast right to your bed. Grab a free "Leberkäsesemmel" (bread roll with traditional meatloaf) and beer from the tap in the afternoon. Early riser? Head to St. Stephen's Cathedral in the morning and enjoy one of Vienna's top sights before the crowds arrive.
Apartment Hotel Singerstrasse: Each room and apartment is meticulously crafted to suit your every need with fully equipped kitchenettes that integrate effortlessly into the apartments' design, which features a bright and welcoming Art Deco style, paying tribute to Josef Hoffmann and the Wiener Moderne. Just steps from the hotel, immerse yourself in Vienna's culinary and cultural scene with a variety of traditional restaurants and iconic Viennese coffee houses. Experience the essence of Austrian design by visiting the Österreichische Werkstätten, where you can find unique, timeless products inspired by the artistic movements of Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and the namesake Wiener Werkstätte.
Hotel Ambassador: Opened in 1898, the hotel's surroundings are equally part Imperial time capsule and modern metropolis. Since opening its doors over 100 years ago, the Ambassador has been the temporary home of well-known figures from the music, art and culture world. Take advantage of the Ambassador’s fantastic location in the historic city centre, directly on shopping street Kärntner Straße and in walking distance to the main sights. Explore the elegant first district with grand buildings like the Imperial Palace or Vienna City Hall, and picturesque narrow streets around the hotel.
Hotel Bristol Vienna: Another grand centenarian hotel of Vienna, the Hotel Bristol, opened in 1892 and is so iconically Viennese that it almost counts as a landmark in itself. It was one of Vienna’s true luxury hotels during the height of the Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy, and still mirrors the magnificence of Vienna’s heyday. Kings, presidents, artists, and celebrities have called the Hotel Bristol home and enjoyed its sophisticated atmosphere. Located just next to the Vienna State Opera and the grand Ringstraße boulevard, the Bristol offers all the refinement, special access, and glamour its guests could wish for. It is highly recommended to enjoy the afternoon tea served at the Bristol Lounge.
